Anna DeCesare is a multidisciplinary designer. Grounded in hands-on, process-driven creation, she crafts tactile design experiences shaped by music, nature, and human connection.

I believe meaningful connection with design begins through physical interaction and a curiosity for how things are made. That mindset drives my practice. I’m interested in the full construction of an idea, how materials behave, how systems take shape, and how small decisions build into something larger. Influenced by the layered, experimental qualities found in the music and visual culture I consume, my work often explores rhythm, repetition, and structure as a way to guide experience. Outside of my creative practice, I spend time woodworking, playing bass, cooking with friends, and listening to new and old music, all of which are ongoing practices that continue to expand how I think, make, and understand the world around me.

01    Bookshelf

Furniture Design
Oak & Ply Wood
This project was an opportunity to practice hardware-free joinery, a technique that demands high precision and one I'm committed to mastering through my work. Building it in an in-home workshop, without top-of-the-line machinery, pushed me to problem-solve around those constraints and refine my technique significantly. The challenge ultimately sharpened my precision and deepened my understanding of the craft.

02    Record Player Table

Furniture Design
Oak & Ply Wood
Built on a four-week deadline and my first venture into woodworking, this table challenged me to learn quickly and think on my feet. Designed to house my vinyl collection and record player, it features a tambour door and a range of angled joinery, each element offering a chance to grow through both the missteps and the wins. The result is a piece I'm proud of, and a process that expanded my skills far beyond what I expected going in.

03    Tote Bag

Accessory Design Design
Canvas Dropcloth
With past sewing experience, access to a sewing machine, and some free time, I set out to make this versatile tote bag. It features a laptop pocket, multiple spots to attach a water bottle, an additional strap that clips on for security while biking, and smaller compartments for a notebook, wallet, phone, or other essentials. This project, my first experience making accessories, gave me hands-on practice with pattern-making and experimenting with different types of hardware.
